What are sub domains and how can I use them?Technically called Canonical Domains or c-names for short, sub domains are like having another website address (domain name) to connect people to your site. You can create new sub domains and point them to any page of your website. Sub domains work just like a regular domain name would, without having to purchase another domain name for your website. It simply creates a new website address with a so-called "pre-fix" added in front of your actaul domain name. You can then link your created sub-domain to any page of your website and market to the pages you want people to see. For an example, look at the URL listed below: The "newcondo." in front of "yourwebsiteaddress.com" is a sub domain. You can name it whatever you want. It works the same as a regular domain name. Just tell people to type http://newcondo.yourwebsiteaddress.com in their browsers address bar and hit go (enter). It will link them to whatever page you have designated as your sub domain page, ideally a page which features new condos for sale or similar. Examples of how you would use a sub domain: First, you just got a new listing and you want to feature this new listing on your website. You added your featured listing to a new page in your website and now plan on distributing property flyers that you had printed out. So you create a sub domain that points directly to the featured listing you added to your website. You're basically creating a link to another page. The property flyers that advertise your new listing would have a link to your website similar to the following example: Please visit http://123VineStreet.yoursite.com for more information.** When people type in the website address or "sub domain" you created above, they will be taken directly to the page where your new listing is posted. Works just like a regular domain name. Allows you to market any page(s) of your website.
